Session 1

Identifying Mental Health Symptoms in Athletes

Tuesday, October 12, 2021 | 12:00 PM EST

In this presentation, Dr. McCabe will review the increasing prevalence of mental health symptoms among athletes. Whether amateur through professional, the increasing load and stressors placed on athletes have resulted in elevated rates of anxiety and depression, among other disorders. This does not mean that those athletes suffering from mental health conditions are not capable of elite play, but rather those coaching and supporting them must be aware of their challenges, difficulties, and burdens.

Session 2

Managing the Stress of 2021 and COVID

Tuesday, October 12, 2021 | 12:30 PM EST

The past 18 months have resulted in unprecedented suffering due to COVID-19 and the related mitigating factors. Businesses have shut down, families have incurred immeasurable financial stressors, and millions across the globe have lost their lives due to COVID. Yet, we are still not addressing the mental health burden associated with COVID. In this presentation, Dr. McCabe will review and address the stressors and establish coping strategies for each person to manage the struggle of COVID.
