ACSM Pre-Con 2025

Hydration and Thermoregulation: The Latest Science in Unique Populations and Environments
Tuesday, May 27th | 11:00 AM-3:00 PM EST
Signia by Hilton Atlanta | Triumph Ballroom I

This pre-conference session will cover relevant topics related to hydration physiology, fluid replacement, and the research and practical implementation in specific populations. Hydration research has been published for over 100 years, yet we continue to learn more about physiology and how to best support the hydration needs of athletes-both traditional and non-traditional. Despite what is known, supporting athlete hydration can be challenging for numerous reasons. See specific session information:

  • Session 1: Hydration and Thermoregulation in Industrial Athletes/Occupational Health
    • Maggie Morrissey-Basler, PhD
      • Assistant Professor, Department of Health Sciences, Providence College
      • Senior Advisor of Occupational Heat Safety, Korey Stringer Institute, University of Connecticut
  • Session 2: Hydration and Thermoregulation in Masters/Aging Athletes
    • S. Tony Wolf, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Kinesiology, University of Georgia
  • Session 3: Hydration and Thermoregulation in Cold Weather/at Altitude
    • Karleigh Bradbury, PhD, Research Physiologist, U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine
  • Session 4: Q&A Session/Career Panel for Students and Early Professionals
    • Moderated by: Lindsay Baker, PhD, Gatorade Sports Science Institute
